Bombay Bustle
Whilst each of our projects present one or two unique challenges, our recent ‘straightforward’ fit-out at a restaurant in London ended up including the creation of a spin-out DJ booth!
Bombay Bustle is an upmarket Indian restaurant in Mayfair, which is more formal than your average curry house, but certainly not stuffy! It serves wonderful, fragrant food in a luxe, retro railway-inspired setting.
GS Contracts were hired as the project managers and fit-out contractors working from a design concept from the talented team at Fabled. The project involved creating The Retiring Room, their new subterranean bar inspired by the retiring rooms of India’s train stations. Our brief was to install a new bar and dessert area in the basement of the restaurant, expanding the options for their diners and creating a flexible space that could also be used for parties and events.

Our First Ever DJ Console
By working quickly and reactively this sumptuous room was completed on site in just two weeks – we designed and made the bar, which has gorgeous 900 x 200 cm tiles facing the whole front, and a stylish and hard-wearing pewter worktop. The room is enveloped with pale pink plaster walls, brilliant-cut glass screens, deep burgundy leather upholstery and a timber panelled ceiling. Clever use of lighting completes the luxury, retro look. CCE the clients preferred catering contractor undertook the operational stainless steel under-bar.
So far, so straightforward! But within the two-week turnaround GS Contracts also managed to manufacture and install our first ever DJ console. This booth actually pivots out, allowing the DJ to move into the space and become the true life and soul of the party!

Special Cocktails
The clients were absolutely delighted with the finish we achieved in this incredible space and, of course, the fast turn-around and seamless work with our sub-contractors is always going to go down well – rather like the special cocktails concocted on the bar’s opening night!
